About Country Club of Asheville

Anchored by its championship Donald Ross golf course and clubhouse, our historic Blue Ridge Mountain country club is a beacon for active lifestyles in Asheville. Among the first hundred private clubs founded in America, Country Club of Asheville was established in 1894 as Swannanoa Country Club. After several changes in location and name, the club attracted famed course architect Donald Ross to design the 6,638 yard par 71 professional track in 1928.

Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 9 am–5 pm. It is closed on Monday. Asheville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Asheville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

An absolute gem in the Asheville area. Colton and his staff made us feel welcome and cared for all of our needs. The golf course was pristine--nothing was out of place. Enjoyed the very best mountain views and beautiful surroundings on every hole. This was a true highlight of our vacation!

I am a new member, the course is challenging, especially the Donal Ross greens. It is in excellent shape. A lot of fun to play it. The views in the mountains are spectacular. The people who work there seem to go above and beyond to help in any way. We ate in the restaurant twice so far and it was really good. The quality of the food seems to be to notch. We are really enjoying the membership!

There for a very special golf tournament, Through our Superintendent Association. Great layout from tee to green. Challenge is around the green complex and once you get on the greens. Great Pro Shop, driving range and practice putting area. Maintenance has done a great job.

Terrific Donald Ross classic in the mountains with beautiful backdrops and phenomenal topographical changes. Lots of undulation. very fair but challenging golf course! I had the fortune of playing it in peak foliage. Really good golf shop and very hospitable from the staffing to the members all around. great experience!
